  Your dog started a war that sucked-up hundreds of billions of dollars out of
the government, too?  Damn, I must be more ignorant of how the government works
than I thought.

  BTW...  Is your dog also responsible for committing the National Guard and
most of our military helicopters to nation-building in Iraq when they'd
otherwise be available to assist this national emergency, rescuing people STILL
stranded and restoring order according to why the Guard exists in the first
place?

  I see.  The president has nothing to do with the budget.  Gotcha.  And his
decisions don't IMPACT the budget.  Uh-huh.  I follow.  It's not hard to

  You didn't actually read a thing I cited, did you?  Because continuing to
insist there was nothing being done rather obviates the failure to do so, even
at a cursory glance.  You're basing your opinion here on erroneous and rather
blatantly intentional ignorance, which is beginning to beg questions of blind
devotion bordering on partisanship, you know.

  The work never even slowed down.  Constant improvements were being made,
right up until the funding dried-up, leaving important repairs and upgrades
uncompleted.  And the funding dried-up because the funds were being diverted to
homeland security (ironically) and what Iraq needs, as GWB seems to consider
running a Middle-Eastern nation more important than running THIS one.

  I didn't have to look very hard to find examples that clearly smash your
assertion that nothing was being done to bits.  There's an awful lot more. 
Care to make even a half-assed attempt to support the charge nothing was being
done?  

  Show me how you know better than the Army Corps of Engineers and Disaster
Relief agencies that have documented the opposite over the years.

  Pointing out the deficiencies of a Republican does not automatically foist
the Democratic position instead.  Look beyond the labels;  they're not relevent
to me.

  Then you missed the original point I made that you replied to, entirely,
which was to mention I'd seen ANOTHER article that said the exact same thing,
not that I was basing my opinion on the actual cited article Finnigan put into
the message base.

  And you have yet to provide any kind of support to your charge that it's
"disingenuous", while I've already detailed pretty unassailable sources to the
contrary.

  Unless, like I said above, you'd like to explain how you know better than the
ACE and Disaster Relief folks, whose info and opinions ALSO fail to reconcile
with what you allege.  They document all the supposedly non-existent work AND
why it stopped being done AND what deficiencies were left uncorrected.

  Deficiencies, if you actually make an attempt to research what you keep
trying to sound like you have knowledge of, to the levees, which broke, and to
the pumps, which failed.

  So, to return to my original point of criticism, imprudence is what
imprudence does, which is a backed-up opinion, unlike your own.
