Under no circumstances should the oil industry in any way stop looking for more oil or more ways to exploit existing oil or ways to synthesize oil. The oil industry should keep pouring money into maintaining the status quo. Other industries should (and do) search for efficient economically feasable alternatives to burning oil products.
