  I ride to work as much as I can as well.  The problem with my job is I am 
sometimes forced to go work at a customers location, which is fine unless it 
rains and then I look bad showing up drenched.  (I do keep a change a clothes 
in my office for this reason, so it's okay coming back).

  Even on my bike which is a full sized touring (1986 Yamaha Venture 1300cc) 
I can ride to work and back, plus service calls, plus driivng my kid 
/girlfriend around on a single $20 tank of fuel for about a week!
