Hrm... first of all, I think you misunderstand the amish lifestyle quite a bit. Secondly, I don't believe I said anything about eschewing technology. A "local" product would be one made in Canada or the US rather than China. A luxury product would be something along the lines of a command-start for the car, or electric garage door openers... maybe a combination espresso/cappuchino/coffee maker for the kitchen. I'm fairly certain the world could continue to exist even if every single one of those items suffered from a mass existance failure tonight.
