It's even better than that: Many americans are unaware of the Alberta oil sands. Essentially, it's sand that's filled with oil. So... 1) Canada's pretty darn friendly. 2) We're not currently eager to offer concesstions to USA producers due to the softwood lumber dispute, but we have historically gotten alogn very well. And really, internal politics are such that if the federal government started trying to tell the albertans what they could do with their oil, the albertans would likely tell the federaly government what they could do with their... *cough* 3) I can confortably be tossed across the border... a pipeline could be set up quite easily. 4) It's bitumen... easily processed into ultra-premium synthetic crude. 5) Already developed/developing and on the market. Expect it to grow very quickly now (Initially, the $40USD/barrel prevented large investements... it looks quite nice now.) 6) So far, none of the oil sand miers have shown any tendency to "co-operate with major oil producting nations" in any price-fixing scheme they happen to have. Total reserves are estimated well over the total for Saudi Arabia. Of course, it may be time to start looking into investing in oil shale mining in the USA. --- þ Synchronet þ ``Penguins make tasty snacks'' .
