Most modern cars calculate MPG while in use... mine gets 25-35+ depending on terrain.. I get about 31 while here in town (about 1mi altitude), I get about 35 when driving in phx (lower altitude) and get about 25 on the commute average to/from phx (about 45 down, and 12-15 uphill) I wish it got more, but would have to have a tiny car to do much better, and for me the comfort level is a good trade, it's a mid-size sedan (buick park avenue), by today's standards it's a big car, but not as big as many SUVs are, and most of those travel less than 10mi a day, in cities... It all impacts stuff, and all could be better, the fact is, it would have to be about $4.50USD/gallon in today's currency before legislation would really be concidered, as for taxing SUVs more, they are taxed more, they use more fuel. -- Michael J.
