If you have "a lot of high reseource eating programs running in the background" then your system resource issue is something that you need to resolve, Synchronet isn't the issue at hand. Also if you're still having issue's with your DNS not resolving, you may want to check the client that you're using for it. Force and update and make sure that you're not trying to make your home IP address a public IP address. You can do that by Forcing an update, selecting Yes to force it, and select NO to make your internal IP public.
