At least it does > for me. That's why I liked about Dos BBSes. I never had that problem, Hey man, with all due respect can ya keep an eye on the sarcasm?! The changes that are made to Synchronet require that the program reset itself, temporarily taking each node offline to allow for the changes to take affect system-wide. The 'reboot' only affects Synchronet and the services that you are running and have available. If what you mean by 'reboot' is what I described above, then yes you're correct. However I have yet to run into an issue where I was forced to reboot the entire machine because of Synchronet. I heard you say that you're using 512k of memory on the system that runs Synchronet. On my File Server, where Synchronet runs, I also have a seperate FTP server called GuildFTPD running, I have a VoIP server called Ventrilo running, I also have MailWasher, a POP3 mail program for managing spam to my mail accounts running. I have a server running so I can connect to it through my BlackBerry at any time, and Internet Rex for Fidonet. Running on Windows 2000, with 128 megs of RAM. Obviously with everything that Synchronet handles (Telnet server, web server, pop3 server, etc.) that it will require some resources to maintain it. That's to be expected. The DOS BBS's had its usefullness when DOS was the prevelant Operating System. Unless you can setup your own Telnet server to activate your DOS machine, I honestly believe that Synchronet is the way to go for Windows-based systems. So please understand that new sysops, especially me, have had a lot of questions getting the system up and running again, that's also to be expected. Ask your questions, and we'll do our best to answer them for you, but please keep the hostilities to a minimum. And if you still need help with an ANSI, please let me know. I was one of the artists in WeaponX ANSI back in the DOS days, and can assist you as much as I can. -Patch, Sysop of the Lair of the Wolverine II; Primal Scream URL:www.lotw2.net * Telnet:lotw2.servebbs.net * Orlando, FL Guild Leader of Gaelic Storm, www.gs-guild.org "The BEST Online Gaming Community!"
