Gas is pretty much artificially priced.. it's a commodity controlled via 
commodities trade, and greed...  People were willing to pay more for the 
commodity, the price rose.. that's how it works...

If it were a controlled utility that didn't have a corrupt distribution system 
it would be much cheaper but that isn't the case, and neither of the two major 
  parties are doing *ANYTHING* about it.
