The best was Thunderball.  (Okay, I admit to a regional bias!)  Then I'd 
say it's a toss-up between Goldfinger and Doctor No.  (I'd probably go for 
Doctor No as my second choice -- regional bias again.)  Those three define 
the early James Bond movies.  They have not really bettered them since.
