W8> What do you mean "day to day operations"? Until Katrina, I didn't fully understand what one might do, day-to-day. Now I see what sort of traffic was being handled. I figured that DX contesting was the length and breadth of Amateur radio. I knew about MARS but that seemed to be a different phenomenom altogether. Our local club has a weekly 'NET' on two meters and I supposed the HF band nets were similar, but only larger. I suppose listening to some would have clued me in.
