I hadn't heard from the Free Geek folks regarding my inquiry of
Cisco 678 DSL modems.  It'd been like five of six weeks, so I swung
by there this afternoon to see what was up.  Turns out they routinely
divert the 678s to their ebay auctions - hence no call.  It wasn't
a total loss though - my eye caught sight of a familiar book cover,
then two others with a similar design.  They turned out to be from
a Hayden books series on UNIX by Kochan & Wood.  They were apparently
heading for the shredder - "those things are obsolete what with
Linux and the Bash shell" burped the penguin-head behind the counter.
Cool, I'll just take them off your hands... ;)
