I am not implying that its earth shattering Mr Salter, I simply discharged my 
ethical responsibility to check with and inform his peers and at the same time, 
armed myself with the knowledge that his peers are aware of and possibly trying 
to take care of the situation.

That way I can at least reply to other inquiries with more than "I Dont know"..

"I dont know" implies one doesnt care, maybe you dont, but I am not you.

If this same situation was being discussed in here and it was "I" that was 
_not_ one of the players, you wouldnt be saying a darn thing about it, so why 
dont you admit it that its only because of "me" that you are peacocking about?
