Subj : File, file; who's got the To : Dale Ross From : Jack Yates Date : Mon Sep 10 2001 11:38 am DR> Nope I am under NO obligation to advise my RC on ANY RIN leaving this DR> network OR on any other issue concerning FidoNet. There are no RINs DR> that connect to me. _IF_ I had an RIN that pulled everything from me DR> and I knew that they did not have a connection to the RC _THEN_ I DR> would advise the RC. There's this thing in Fidonet that I like to refer to as "Spirit of Cooperation". I could be madder'n'hell at the RC but I would still netmail him if I knew a node other than one in my network was down due to a hardware failure and did not intend to rebuild and return. It's in the best interest of the network as a whole to do so. This includes *any* RC, not just the R18C. DR> Concerning the demonstration of Ross doing his job or not. On that DR> issue I do not care. I have no opinion on how he does his job. I care DR> not what happens in Region 18. I am in Region 18 because my NET is in DR> Region 18. That is the only thing concerning Region 18 that I care DR> about. Region 18 could die tomorrow and it would not faze me. As long DR> as NET379 is still around I am happy. My NET comes above ANY other DR> part of FidoNet. I would be happy if we did away with Regions and DR> Zones and just had Nets. So it matters little to me if Ross does a DR> good job or a bad job. Trust me on that. I know that if Ross did a bad DR> job and was replaced he would probably NOT be replaced with anything DR> better, hell probably worse. So I gain nothing by making him look good DR> OR bad. Dale, you give me reason to wonder if this feeling is because your RC is the sumbidge that gathered up his downlinks and defected to the NAB, and your ZC has, by inference, refused to recognize IRNROUTE as the Official Fidonet Echomail-routed Netmail chart, and possibly for other reasons that need not be gone into here because it really doesn't matter *why* you're pissed, just that you are. Because of this animosity, perhaps you feel that Fidonet would be better off without these positions and so you would see the positions eliminated, not the region/zone tiers. I suppose if your NC gets on your case over something next week you'll want to be doing away with the network and just have nodes? Hm..How about eliminating the tier hiearchy in the Z1B? Oh. You're in the top level there; scratch that idea. Your last sentence speaks volumes. May we, the members of Region 18, for whom you have little or no regard, expect that you will do nothing that does not afford you personal gain? It looks to me like Dale's for Dale, and damn everyone else. Of course, I could be wrong. I must admit, however, that I admire your honesty. --- McGuffey's Reader GoldED UNREG * Origin: (1:3613/1275.1) .
