RPG was almost as bad as GPSS (General Purpose System Simulator)
where it tended to take one 3 weeks to prepare for 1 minute of
computer time and 6 months to analyze the resulting data.

I still am bemused from time to time at the fact that Pascal is
still around, being as how it was a totally artificial construct
designed for the SOLE purpose of teaching the =concepts= of
computer programming to students and initially had absolutely no
provisions what so ever for one of the most important aspects of
data processing: input/output of data.
