Subj : Routing = mess To : FRANK VEST From : FOXY FERGUSON Date : Tue Nov 27 2001 11:17 pm FV> This may be a stupid question, but... If no mail is flowing, FV> what's the point? Most of the nodes in Net 361 and Net 135 don't participate in echomail, or run a public BBS: They must have other reasons for having a node number in Fidonet. As long as they meet a minimal criteria and I can contact them in emergencies, I, for one, ain't gonna nuke 'em. Even if it means (as has been/is the case) that I've had to create a private nodelist containing their old node number from before they got "rolled into" Net361 so that their routed netmail (if any) can get to them. FV> 393/9005 is effectively an end node. I know. The sysop of that node has been very ...ah... religious about notifying me of any/all changes that affect the ROUTELST. FV> I think that 3830/9 connects to, or is 19/0 or something FV> like that? One of Quarrella's aka's, yes. FV> A convoluted, contrived and pulsating mass of something... FV> but it has a hell of a heart beat. :-)) No one in this entire world wide Fidonet network is REQUIRED to have a /simple/ setup if they desire otherwise. With something close to 15 machines and 5 or 6 different, sometimes inconpatible, and therefore /quite/ distinctive operating systems, my site is anything but simple. And my husband's threatened to add a new operating system to the mix. Just as soon as he can get around to writing it. Construction of a guest bed-sit has to come first, and we're almost at the point of stuffin' in the insulation. A job I don't at all like! :( --- Platinum Xpress/Wildcat! v1.4c * Origin: Pogo's (1:361/1) .
