Makes a lot more sense to me. That way he can connect to whoever he'd like for his file/echomail/netmail feed. Take care, Janis Stewart offered a feed, from someone who made a request, and specifically asked net 229. When are you going to realize that Net 229 is doing some major promotional work, bringing new nodes into Zone 1? Some of them end up in Net 229, but quite a few others wind up in other nets and other regions. Instead of looking at the good work that the net is doing to build Fidonet, and thanking them for their efforts, and for the nodes that they attract to nets all over North America, you attack them for their their work and scare the newbies off. As far as the geographic parts of Policy 4, that has ALWAYS been a problem that has cost Fido nodes. Back in the days when I was still running BinkleyST on my Atari, another Atari node, Carlis Darby, from North Carolina, dropped out, because of the problems he was having with the geographic requirements. He was not a local call to anyone, and his long distance charges within the state were higher than a long distance charge to any other state in the United States. His RC would not grant him a RIN, and insisted that he had to stay in his "local" net. In those days, feeds were also legislated by Fido authorities, and any attempt to get an out of net feed was stomped, as were attempts by a net to get a feed from outside their region. The Kohntrohl camp, the anti-ZIB plots, the seen-by stuffing, the rest of this crap, has all been aimed at returning to the "good old days" of complete control by the *C chain. That kind of power lead to horrific abuses. We had RCs who took bribes on policy complaints. We had RCs who ordered nets to purchase feeds from their friends, and when they refused and insisted on an independent feed, the RC would toast the NC's node number. We had an IC who sat back and watched and insisted on "following procedures" when an out-of-control RC toasted almost the entire Hong Kong net and the ZC was not to be found, so there was no chain of command to follow through with correct procedures. Region 12 is not the problem. Policy 4 is the problem. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Leftover Hippies (1:250/525) .
