Makes a lot more sense to me. Do you mean the RC in his geographic area or the RC of the region he wishes to reside in? They may not be the same. If you and/or Ross are concerned about this, perhaps you could seek to discover whether or not this is a Synchronet sysop and whether he might want to be listed in a Net that is populated by Synchronet sysops. I suspect that that may be why he mentioned Net229 as we have a lot of them. I believe it is important for new sysops to congregate with a group that shares interests with them, such as the BBS software they are using. They're likely to be more comfortable there rather than to force them to be grouped by geography which might not be important to them at all. I also believe that geography is rather irrelevant in Zone 1 nowadays. I doubt this is a dialup system, which is the only argument for grouping sysops by geography that makes sense, IMO. Is it your policy to force all new sysops to be grouped into their geographic regions? If so, please explain why this makes sense to you, how it will benefit Fidonet, and how you intend to enforce this policy. I'd also like to know if you believe you have a mandate to do this from the general Fidonet sysop population. If not, where did you get the notion that you could arbitrarily apply policies without consulting us or acquiring our permission to do so? Thanks kindly.
