one of the better things that the military (USAF if it matters) taught me 
whilst i was training for Minuteman II was that the batteries in the silos are 
there for a reason... they're also very large for a reason... one of my side 
goals is to see what i can do by adding batteries (in parallel of course) for 
onlger uptimes... i'm currently waiting on a huge marine deepcycle battery to 
tie into my most used UPS...

was it subjected to regular deepcycling? if not, that's one of the reasons 
why... what are your plans for the unit if/when you replace it?
