We haven't had a transformer blowout since we got hit by a hurricane, and that 
was years ago when I was living in an older part of town that had them high 
atop poles.

Yes, but big surprise, Oshawa also has dozens of power grids. We live in a 
new(er) part of the city where the grid is modern, as are the phone lines. In 
fact, our fibre optic network is being re-tooled and expanded as we speak. :>
