Well John is not here anymore and those of us that are now the Z1B have
our own fundamentals.. I never agreed 100% with John S and guess what we
are all were we are for our own personal reasons... If I remember
correctly wasn't it you that invited me in praising all the benefits of
the Z1b... TurnCoat you are..

Here is the real reason.. This is the fundamental reason when Fido had
20,000 plus real nodes. and 1200 or so real echos with real traffic
sysops that carried the full load could be almost guaranteed to have
traffic in each as participation was very high.. I personally have never
had the time to read all the echos :)  When the Internet kicked off and
the user base to BBS systems went south the amount of user participation
did not warrant 1200+ echos with over 1/2 having no traffic..

Imagine Joe User logins to a system with a full load and a sysop blindly
listing all of these echo's Joe user checks 4-5 echos only to find no
messages.. His opinion is formed this is a frickin joke logs off and
becomes one of the mindless WWW users... Z1B understands this and sets a
posting requirement and then culls a lot of the dead weight.. Guess what
Systems that feed or use the backbone.z1b listing automatically get some
protection in the fact we are watching the traffic levels... Is it a end
for all no... As some moderators pad their echos to meet the minimums
and then we still have 0 traffic echos....  This is one of the reasons
there is a separate list.
