From my looking at the backbone.ww, it appears that many of -> the echos carried by the z1b and na are there. I don't see how it can -> be factored out. My understanding is alot of what they carry that the other two don't are outside Zone 1 and multilingual. Since I'm only fluent in English (can barely get by with Spanish), these other echos are of no use to me. YMMV. -> AS> between what's carried on the NAB and Z1B are what's deemed as -> "dead" AS> echos. If you wish to carry everything active or no, -> your better bet AS> is to connect with the NAB. If you wish to only -> carry echos which AS> have AS> traffic (save maybe a handful of low -> traffic echos which were either AS> inadvertently deleted by the Z1B -> or transformed back to limited life), AS> Z1B connection is fine. -> Ok. Problem is that some Nets may not connect to all backbones for -> one reason or the other. For Nodes that rely on their Net for a feed -> and don't have access to Internet technology to connect to other -> backbones, that could be a problem. It's only a problem if the nodes in a Net are being fed by someone linking to the Z1B, where said nodes desire to carry dead echos. -> This might not be such a factor today, but it could be. I'd say it's not much of one. I have my own feed independent of my Net, don't run an IP mailer, yet get all my mail via FTP. -> In the past, -> it was a big factor in that many Nodes relied on their Net to feed -> them and what was available in the way of echos was the direct result Actually, it wasn't a big factor because in the days before Internet Connectivity was rampant, we had one distribution system; the NAB. Again, the point needs to be clear that what you can access via the NAB, (with few exceptions) as opposed to the Z1B amounts to echos with no traffic. If there's some reason why you wish to configure dead echos, than perhaps this might be an issue for you. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/Wildcat5! v3.0pr3 * Origin: Platinum Xpress Support 305-248-7815 (1:135/382) .
