Subj : ERRORS in Route List! To : Carl Austin Bennett From : Lesley-Dee Dylan Date : Sat May 12 2001 12:58 pm CAB> I remember having waited nearly two months to get my CAB> own node listed back in 1993-94, but don't see how CAB> Fido can afford to do things that way any more. When I joined Fido, which was long before 1993, I contacted a simple, plain end node, and said "how do I join?" That end node contacted the NC and the local hub, and BOTH called me voice within three or four hours. When they found out that I was trying to set up on an Atari ST, with FoReM as the BBS package, and there were only three others in all of North America who had successfully set it up, all within the previous month, they put me in touch with the net's NEC, because he had 68000 experience. The NEC spent many hours over the next few days walking me through the entire principles of how the network was supposed to run, and what everything did. After that, things made sense and I was able to get things running. You wouldn't believe how slow MFM drives were for tossing mail. --- Maximus/2 3.01 * Origin: Leftover Hippies (1:250/525) .
