Subj : ERRORS in Route List! To : Ross Cassell From : Carl Austin Bennett Date : Wed May 09 2001 02:39 pm CB>> // Begin Quote JK>>> find your Z1B left in the dust. CB>> //End quote RC> Hog wash and you know it.. How so? RC> John tried the one thing he did best, to control something or make RC> sure something was being done *HIS* way. John wanted a routelst that could be used to create a valid end-to-end route. Instead, this thing has been turned into just another political football. RC> The concept of a alternate route list was mused out loud by DALE, not RC> John. Dale and John were not the only ones to raise the idea of an alternate list. RC> One of the major concerns I had with the early portions of the route RC> list war was to prevent the Z1B from exerting undue influence on a RC> route list that is supposed to be neutral and if that meant butting RC> heads with Dale and John, so be it. I would've liked to see a more politically neutral list, but it looks like it isn't going to happen. Foxy has been playing some very political games with the top-level hub matrix and has threatened to do so with Ruth's info as well. The whole "anonymous committee" spiel was also one of Foxy's favourites; she used that angle often in response to questions about standardising the format RC> John was posturing because he wasnt gonna get his way and evidenced by RC> his departure, Dale was acting like GOD was gonna die and you all came RC> onto the scene because you were afraid Eastern Canada was gonna become a RC> territory of the USA. The manner in which Janis, Foxy and others in your group managed to harass John into leaving the network has gone over very badly; John's been a highly capable mail mover for many years and he will most definitely be missed. RC> so much for neutrality, even with the name change its still not neutral, RC> I pointed this out to Dale and he jumped on Monteith over it, although I RC> doubt Monteith named it so. I don't see Monteith playing political games with this; he just moves the mail RC> no NAB hub cares to use it. I suspect Dale will reuse to use portions Dale routes down to the net level only, as did John. This whole saga of listing paths to individual nodes was started by Foxy (with the ZIN's) over John's objections. There are cases (such as 1:284/47) where lack of one valid central inbound host in a net causes some routing problems. NC system is "Some One" at +1-417-999-9999, NEC flagged "down" answers voice. This means that any independent feeds into 1:284 are the only valid paths. I'm not sure what Dale or John would put in their route.cfg for that net. --- Msged/LNX TE 06 * Origin: Pause-Caf‚ Kingston 613-549-5599 telnet:cafe.dyndns.org (1:249/116) .
