Delay as in the capability of sender and receiver governed by such factors as 
connectivity method or how often one polls for mail. If someone route Steve 
Byers a netmail through me via Dale, Todd or the other TLH's it would get to 
Steves system as quick as an email, however once on Steves system, when he 
reacts/replies to the netmail is another story and uncontrollable no matter how 
its delivered.. It could be said that sending netmail via any method guarantees 
no reply.
