The dead nets were listed as such until March 2001, when someone at the zone 
level asked for the default route for each region and inserted that in place of 
"no route found". The removal of the priority field (which could've been used 
to distiguish between a live working link and a dead net) is also recent.

The nets that have been defaulted to 297/11, for instance, are:

even though 1:14 and 1:297 might be the only ones fed from Michael McCabe.

The only nets listed as anything other than this default route are:

Of these, 1:288 feeds from Canada, 1:290 is Gary Petersen (out of service, with 
one downlink still online and possibly orphan) and 1:2810 is a dead net in 
which the NC listing answers voice as a wrong number and nothing works.

Out of this set, I'll accept 1:282 (Jeff Smith) and 1:297 (Michael McCabe). The 
rest of these routes are garbage and/or cut-and-pasted default routes.

The no answers are already no secret. Just because Foxy or Janis think that a 
default route/no priority to a non-existent net looks better in the list than 
"no route" that doesn't mean that these aren't flagged in the ERNROUTE files:

This is ridiculous; nearly half of the default routes in one list are revealed 
as corresponding to dead NC systems or even entire dead nets. Some of these 
NC's have the "Down" flag on their own local nodes in the nodelist. Toast!

How would that fix the ZIN listings? They come from the ZC not Michael McCabe.

Ray was the RC14. Z1C removed him from that as his system was down for good.
There's no way that any Z1C now could not have known that Ray is history.

Lost cause, I'm afraid. They're running out of people to handle this mess.

If Michael does pop his antlers up long enough for me to raise this issue, I 
will certainly ask that he demand Foxy remove these "default routes" to nets 
which no longer exist and replace 1999-era routing data with something newer.

Of all the region fourteen nodes still online, I strongly doubt that more than 
20% are reachable by using the routing information provided by Foxy's list.
