I can field this one... We list systems that apply to be listed in this net. We don't ask our RC's permission when we add a node to our segment. We do not compete for new nodes with anyone. At one time I contacted NCs in the local geographic areas of sysops, then presented them with whatever options the local NC offered the new node. I did this before listing them. I was met with so much apathy that I began to detest the thought of conversing with yet another NC who didn't give a damn about new nodes. Finally an NC tore a strip off me for *bothering* him by netmail about somebody who wanted a Fido listing, and I decided to discontinue my search for people who care. At least three of the nodes who have joined Net229 recently have expressed a desire NOT to be listed in their geographic areas, indicating that they have made their own enquiries and have met with similar reactions to my own. Our policy (which does not exist in writing) is very simple: If a system wants a listing in Net229 and can demonstrate an ability to send and receive secure netmail, they get a node number and they are welcomed with open arms. All we're doing, really, is not treating potential sysops like shit. ...."He believed that *pretending* to do drugs to please people is the kind of character trait the United States wants in a president.
