Subj : alternate routing chart To : Foxy Ferguson From : Carl Austin Bennett Date : Wed Apr 18 2001 05:13 am CAB> Nothing says where that file is to originate and Foxy CAB> herself has been encouraging those who'd expressed concerns CAB> to create their own list for some time now. FF> ... but not to inflict their lists on everybody else, Carl. Odd choice of words, "inflict". I could see using words like that if top-level hubs or even the whole matrix were being omitted for political reasons. I could also see using words like that if a listkeeper were to advertise a false route (to direct California mail to New York, for instance) or threaten an NEC with a "No route found" listing for having objected to these errors. However if there's useful information in the list, even if it consists of corrections and updates to incorrect info elsewhere, it serves its purpose. No point in creating a list unless sysops can get hold of a copy and use it. FF> and, yes, there are restrictions on who can hatch what and in which FDN It's routing info which was hatched in an FDN for routing info by an REC. That's what the area's there for. Don't like it? Too bad. If you don't want to read messages about m00se, don't link to MOOSECHAT; if you don't want to see routing info, don't link to Z1_REC. FF> Sorry that your REC was operating on ancient information that hasn't FF> had a chance to be corrected. But now that you've pointed out that little FF> item in such a painful and disrespectful fashion, I feel sure that it can FF> be fixed. Maybe not yesterday. Maybe not today. But one day. No one owes anyone any respect. Want some? Earn some. As for this so-called "ancient information", it's still very much current. That you might like to change it to obtain more power for yourself at the expense of some other sysops doesn't mean that it *has* been changed. --- Msged/LNX TE 06 * Origin: Pause-Cafe Kingston 613-549-5599 telnet:cafe.dyndns.org (1:249/116) .
