Just discussing this in another echo... most of the free ISP's require you use their proprietary software, out of three of these that I tried, one claims that they DO NOT monitor your activities at all... this is Spinway.com (http://www,spinway.com)... I used it for a short time until I discovered FreeWWWeb (http://www.freewwweb.com). What I found to be unbeatable about freewwweb as far as free ISP's go is that you DO NOT need to use proprietary software at all. You need only create an account on their homepage with a browser capable of https, then you can configure whatever it is you use to dial the internet with their settings, and BANG, you're in. DOS users are accesing this free ISP with browsers such as Arachne, and, the reason that I found it usefull is that I can use TransX for my FTP exchanges to the BBS with absolutely no problems at all, which you can't do on the other free ISP's. They claim you must have your browser set with their homepage as the default homepage in your browser, but, so far this hasn't given me any problems when not using the browser and only doing automated routines. They claim to be the original free ISP since 1996, and the great thing is that people using ANY operating system at all can gain access once they have created their account. Many people who can't do https will go to their local library and use their computers to set up the account, then go home and configure their dialer. I highly recommend it to anybody in the US looking for a free ISP. --- Platinum Xpress/Wildcat! v1.4a * Origin: Capital Station BBS Poestenkill, NY 518-283-3088 (1:267/200) .
