They are heavy into so -> CH> other technologies like NNTP. -> -> Have you checked the newer versions of IREX? I'm not sure, but -> it's been a topic in the IREX echo. Long story with IREX on here. On my maintenance machine, it BSOD's every time, but that's unique to my system. I'm beginning to suspect a NetModem conflict. That's another topic, anyhow. I do run IREX on a Win2000 machine, but that has it's own difficulties with it. -> And WC4.20, in the Conference -> Area Definitions, Conference Message Type: can be set to: -> Usenet Newsgroup, public to ALL, VM tossing it should be similar -> to tossing email, yes? Yes, and I did have many Usenets on here for years. Gated through my local ISP as UUCP traffic, until they quit doing local mail. Later, I got inbound Usenets from Planet Connect, outbound through the ISP. WCGate handled all that, as will ViaUUCP. And others, no doubt. I'm sorta looking at making a whole machine just to handle mail, and using the current WC 4 setup as just a BBS. In effect, a dedicated mail hub. With the half-T1 rate DSL, it could be valuable. Run Squish or GEcho, look at the other stuff that's needed. And, figure what could do the job on the gating. I've got the hardware, and about all the software I'd need. Problem is, I have the learning curve of how to set it up so it works. With all the conflicting opinions in here, it's hard to pick whose advice to take. One person says something, and another comes along and body-slams 'em. I suspect most people are about 95% correct in their knowledge. It's that 5% difference that causes trouble. But, this seems way offtopic for this echo, so we can continue somewhere else, or in netmail.. -c- --- ViaMAIL!/WC v1.60d * Origin: Chowdanet (401-331-5587) telnet://chowdanet.com (1:323/120) .
