Right...but when one plays to an audience that wears blinders, one sometimes 
needs to be very descriptive of what's going on (g).

Yep...I used to do a simialr thing when I had some othernets running...when I 
leantred of another person using the same zone number, I contacted them and we 
worked things out.

You know, there's another benefit to learning/using zone numbers other than 
1-6.

When I first joined Fidonet, I had, as many people do, a hard time learning all 
the "stuff".  So, rather than vex the NC and/or cause interference, a buddy and 
I started experimenting with Frontdoor, and Intermail using "othernet" numbers.

We got fairly good at it, and even created some help files that explained 
setting up FD/IM and GECHO.  We leanrned a lot, and no one in the net had to 
suffer from our newbee mistakes.

At that time, the Ole Boy Network around here frowned on innovations like 
satellite feeds and internet, so they not only refused to import files, but 
also tried to exclude a group of us from doing so, since we might not want to
participate in their CRP.

So, armed with our knowledge of how to move stuff around using zone numbers 
other than Fido, we set up a Planet Connect System and moved TONS of files
to half of the net....who all were running both Fidonet and Othernet zone 
numbers.
