Subj : Removal To : TODD SULLIVAN From : FOXY FERGUSON Date : Sun Sep 16 2001 11:40 pm TS> All that would need to be done is for our Esteemed Echolist TS> Keeper to notify those who care in the echos he already does TS> so. It is not up to anyone else BUT the Elist keeper to determine exactly what are the parameters of the job, Todd. Thom already distributes a list of what echoes are under threat of deletion and what echotags were deleted in the past month. That information is freely available to all, not just the distro systems. TS> NAB Ops could simply monitor and remove echos after TS> attempting to notify the Moderator, or - if Thom gets no TS> answer to his own inquirire - announce its imminene removal TS> unless the Mod gets up off his/her ass and does something. TS> 30-60 days later, by-by, all she wrote. Excuse, but..... "bye-bye, all she wrote" is already in place. Has been for the over 10 years that I've been closely monitoring the elist and it's place in this hobby. I for one see no need for Thom to add yet another unnecessary task to his duties as keeper. I may not be especially ennamoured with the results of some of his policies, but then I didn't agree with some of Adrian's decisions, either. TS> If the people nominally responsible for the echo won't take TS> care of it, they don't belong there and should hand it over TS> to someone who understands what resposibility means. This I'll agree with you on, but reality has shown us how very often the above does NOT occur. There are dupe echoes that have come about for exactly the reason stated above: those responsible for the echo fell asleep at the post, allowed their Elist entry to lapse, and the tags to be "accuired" by others. One example: ASTRONOMY and ASTRONET. --- Platinum Xpress/Wildcat! v1.4c * Origin: Pogo's (1:361/1) .
