That's not going to be the case with ones that people can post in. > it.. I think selected newsgroups add a lot of value and if the users > post to it and the newgroup users see it is coming from a BBS it could > draw them back.. When a newsgroup is 'moderated' it means that posts are sent to the moderator, and _he_ posts them. Moderated internet newsgroups are not moderated after-entry like they are in Fidonet. Moderated newsgroups are moderated pre-post. In other words, you have two types of newsgroups on the net: 1: Moderated and posted by the moderator (informational types, announcement newsgroups, etc.) and 2: Non-moderated 'free-for-all-newsgroups'. The second type is the type that is normally imported into fidonet, because it's the only type in which a bbs user can post a message without the gate losing access. I tried pulling in the alt.support.Multiple.Sclerosis (or whatever the name of it is ) newsgroup figuring that even though it does get it's fair share of spam, some people might actually enjoy hearing about the latest news regarding MS. Not the case, though. One of the fidonet members of the original fidonet echo had a fit at the volume imposed by the newsgroup, so I shut it off.
