NEVER say "never". CDs have gone bad just sitting there. Also one
inadvertent scratch on a CD top surface can wipe it out. Further, who
knows whether CD readers will be around 10-50 years from now. Floppy
drives are almost gone right now - many, if not most, new systems do not
have one.
