I think I got you both beat.. :-))

I was born in West Texas, Odessa nothing but
Tumble weeds, Sand and Oil Wells, in 1944

then moved in 1947 after WWII, to the Oil fields
in the Tropical Jungles of Venezuela about 150
miles north of the Equator, Lots of Snakes,
Boll-constrictors, Scopions, Aligators,
Army ants (bigger and meaner) than Fire Ants..
and Peronahs (Fish like Perch), but with a
mouth full of sharp teeth.. that attacked
Everything  in the River and could
eat a whole Cow in 5 minutes :-))


the Heat and Humidity of the thick tropical
jungle was something you had to get used to,

the coldest it ever got was about 75'F at night
after a Rain Storm..


Then came the Mosquitos as big as Humming birds..
