Essentially what I do, start with the knife, break it in my hands
than finish with the knife.

IOW's he knows he'll get it right back.

Shocked the neighbors one time he snatched up a pork bone
outside.
It caught in his throat so I reached way down and extracted it
removing my hand and arm without so much as a scratch.

Now he's been wised up to outside food and gives it a pass.
