Subj : IEXPLORER problem To : MIKE ROSS From : CHARLES ANGELICH Date : Sat Feb 26 2005 08:53 pm 123c4e9c52a3 windows Hello Mike - --8<--cut CA>>>>> I do recall some discussion of lost time but I don't CA>>>>> recall what the 'fix' was, sorry. MR>> Might this be it? From the sysini.wri file: MR>> SyncTime= MR>> Default: True Purpose: If this setting is enabled, Windows MR>> periodically synchronizes its time with the computer's MR>> CMOS clock. If this setting is disabled, Windows usually MR>> maintains the correct time, unless TrapTimerPorts is MR>> disabled and you are running applications that can cause MR>> the system time to run faster or slower than the actual MR>> time. This setting is related to the TrapTimerPorts MR>> setting. MR> Oops forgot to add the TrapTimerPorts: MR> TrapTimerPorts= MR> Default: True Purpose: Specifies whether Windows should MR> trap read and write operations to the system timer ports MR> that are performed by applications. If this setting is MR> disabled, Windows will not trap these operations, allowing MR> applications that frequently read or write to the timer to MR> run faster. However, this may interfere with ability of MR> Windows to keep accurate system time. If this setting is MR> disabled, Windows can usually detect when an application MR> has changed the timer interrupt interval and then make any MR> adjustments to the time. If your system's time appears to MR> be running fast or slow, enable this setting. If you do not MR> want to enable this setting, enable the SyncTime setting. MR> This causes Windows to check the time periodically and then MR> make any necessary adjustments. If I am remembering this correctly, the TrapTimerPorts does slow the execution speed quite a bit. The SyncTime setting might be the better option. Again, my W31 machines are 140 miles away right now and I can't check to see which I have been using. :-( > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > <| |> __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ....
