Subj : IEXPLORER problem To : GERALD MILLER From : CHARLES ANGELICH Date : Thu Feb 24 2005 02:54 pm 123c4e7ce411 windows Hello Gerald - GM>>>>> I've found another 'weirdness'. After I've been in Wfw GM>>>>> for a few hours and I quit back to DOS, I find that my GM>>>>> system clock has lost some time. I recall there was a GM>>>>> "fix" for this problem, but I can't remember which file GM>>>>> was responsible for the time loss or the replacement GM>>>>> (archive) file name. Any ideas? CA>>>> I do recall some discussion of lost time but I don't CA>>>> recall what the 'fix' was, sorry. GM>>> I was under the impression that the lost time had GM>>> something to do with an update to the filemanager or GM>>> winmanager. I'll have to open up the archive of my GM>>> previous Wfw311 installation and do a file-by-file GM>>> comparison and see what I can find. The filemanagers for W3.x have Y2K issues and can be replaced by downloads from Microsoft to fix those. The filenmanager for W31 is not the same as for WFWG, each has it's own replacement download. The calculator for W3.x has a rounding error and there is a replacement for that also available for download. GM>>> The other alternative that I was thinking of was to FTP GM>>> into the Micro$not Windows 3.x site and peruse their GM>>> 00_index file... CA>> Go here: http://www.mdgx.com/lastweek.htm (it's AXCEL216) CA>> and search the page for "clock". The tweaks look familiar CA>> but my W31 machines are 140 miles from here and I can't CA>> check to see if I have them or not (my W31 clocks do not CA>> lose time). :-( The 'tweaks' are changes to the ".ini" files btw, nothing major. GM> I did locate an archive of a program that will connect with GM> a time server to adjust the system time (configurable from GM> once an hour, once a day, once a week, etc.). Don't GM> remember the name of the archive or where I found it... :-(( I'm not sure what the name of my W31 atomic clock software is. I use it once a month (or less). My machines are 140 miles from here right now - unfortunately. GM> I vaguely recall that there was some sort of Y2K problem GM> with one (or more) of the Windows 3.x files There are Y2K problems but they don't affect the 'clock' (see above). GM> and the particular file that I'm trying to find was made GM> available to address the problem of systems loosing time. GM> I'll find it eventually. I'm reasonably certain the 'fix' applied to the ".ini" file mentioned at AXCEL216's website is the solution to the problem and does not require any other software - honest. :-) > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > <| |> __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ....
