I purchased a USR external v.everything 33.6K Courier for $17 off of half.com a 
few years ago.  It's rock solid, works under any OS I've tried, with any BBS 
software.  If it connects to another USR Courier, it's like a five second 
proprietary handshake...really cool.

I'd never part with this modem and if something happened to it, I'd cry.

USR is /still/ making Couriers, BTW.  They're called "business-class" 
modems...put them in a closet and forget about it. :)
