Hello Tom - 

Got this email today and immediately thought of you as a
possible volunteer. :-)

I am a non-techie old timer who still loves DOS. I have about
40,000 WordStar files and about 20 years of my billing which
runs under dBASE, works great, never crashes, runs like
lightning, and generally makes me unwilling to switch to
unnecessary graphic cal user interfaces which are far less
stable and reliable. 

My problem is I'm about to buy a new laptop which doesn't come
with a floppy drive or even a serial port and I'm trying to
figure out how to get DOS onto it and how to make it see the
USB ports. I live in the San Jose area in a small town named
Saratoga, and I'd love to find someone in this area with enough
technical expertise to help me get this up and running. Do you
have any interest in taking a trip this way, or do you know
anyone in this area who could give me a hand.

highly unlikely for me.

give him the benefit of your accumulated wisdom. :-)

I will remain available to both of you if there is anything
I can do from here.  There are links to DOS USB drivers and
even DOS CD burning software at my website but I have not
used them here on my machines.  I am, at this point, a bit
concerned as to how he will maintain backup copies of his
work while using DOS applications on his new laptop. :-\
