Subj : limited to USB 1? To : AUGUST ABOLINS From : CHARLES ANGELICH Date : Fri Jan 07 2005 01:06 am 123c47818e47 windows Hello August - TW>> Wait a minute. didn't this discussion start with soemone TW>> that Ran out of PCI Slots and the Riser card was suggested? AA> I think that WAS the situation, yes. But I don't remember AA> who had that problem. --8<--cut I _think_ this was initiated by my 'rant' that I don't like USB being used for everything/anything lately and my disappointment that new modems being sold in my area are all using USB v2.0 connections. I added the comment that I didn't have USB v2.0, only v1.0 or v1.1 in this machine. Everyone assumed I was referring to the new modems. I wasn't. I was thinking of external hard drives, burners, etc. but that doesn't really matter anymore. Someone (probably August) suggested I could buy a PCI card to add USB v2.0 and another person mentioned something like "What if there are no available PCI slots?". All of this was combined into the belief that now what I needed was a way to add PCI cards and the rest is history. From wanting a serial port connected 56K modem, to USB, to PCI cards, to risers, and all because I was complaining when I should have just remained silent about the whole thing. ;-) > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > <| |> __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ....
