Subj : limited to USB 1? To : August Abolins From : Tom Walker Date : Thu Jan 06 2005 06:24 am -> I have a fine Nomad MuVo NX 256meg mp3 player / flash device. It is clearly -> limited to USB 1.1 speeds in the spec.. (but at $120 cdn I couldn't pass up -> this dual-function device!) I have not copied a full 256meg of files to it -> yet. But by my estimation, it wouldn't take more than 5 minutes, right? I -> think 5 minutes is not entirely unreasonable. But I think 256meg would be -> tolerable limit for USB 1.1. 256Meg should be a tolerable transfer for USB-1. The actual speed will depend on the Flash Memory used. Some flash memory is faster then others. -> I have also used an external USB 2 cd-rw on a USB 1.1 equipped laptop. It took -> 15 mintues to "read" a CD and then another 15 minutes to burn a copy maximized -> at the 4x setting. A total of 30 minutes is not unreasonable for me either. -> But I think a USB 2 upgrade (cardbus) might be a worthy investment. Perhaps I am more toollerned after some 20 Years fo "Hury UP and Wait" in the Military. So I agree with yuo taht what you are describing is tollerable. Now if one is burning quite frequently it can become a problem. I rembember one time formatting 25 CDRW's on a 2X burner. That was a Real pain. --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5 * Origin: Shakey Jake's *ALL FREE BBS* Santee, CA (1:202/1324) .
