Subj : limited to USB 1? To : Tom Walker From : August Abolins Date : Fri Dec 31 2004 05:11 pm Hi TOM (of 1:123/140), On , in a message to Wayne Chirnside you wrote: TW> IF one stays away from External CD/DVD burners and Large 500K to 1 TW> gig file transfers to the USB device one can live with USB-1 quite TW> easily. (but at $120 cdn I couldn't pass up this dual-function device!) I have not copied a full 256meg of files to it yet. But by my estimation, it wouldn't take more than 5 minutes, right? I think 5 minutes is not entirely unreasonable. But I think 256meg would be tolerable limit for USB 1.1. I have also used an external USB 2 cd-rw on a USB 1.1 equipped laptop. It took 15 mintues to "read" a CD and then another 15 minutes to burn a copy maximized at the 4x setting. A total of 30 minutes is not unreasonable for me either. But I think a USB 2 upgrade (cardbus) might be a worthy investment. d(-_-)b ...August --- FMail/Win32 1.60 * Origin: http://www3.sympatico.ca/abo (1:229/390) .
