Subj : back in business To : WAYNE CHIRNSIDE From : CHARLES ANGELICH Date : Thu Dec 30 2004 05:12 pm 123a3667bc50 windows Hello Wayne - ->> I was not implying that your resources are anything they ->> should not be. I am back on dialup now myself and no longer ->> have access to cable. :-\ WC> Sorry to hear that. S'Okay, I knew this bed was on fire when I laid down in it. ;-) WC> Only experience I have with cable or DSL is the phone WC> company's setup where I drop payments or the landlady's WC> house. A large part of the WWW (especially M$ websites) relies on broadband access to function. Movie trailers, news clips (video and audio) and even struggling musician's websites where tracks of their music are made available for free. Downloading of ISO files for Linux, or any other purpose is just not practical on dialup. :-\ There are a few pleasant surprises such as BBC's use of low bandwidth to rebroadcast radio shows and a few others. WC> My courtship with 56k was the brief period between the time WC> my software modem was operational before the phone company WC> abandoned support protocols. I am told that you will soon have an external 56k modem 'on your doorstep'. For general WWW browsing 56k dialup is quite good most of the time. :-) > > , , > o/ Charles.Angelich \o , > <| |> __o/ > / > USA, MI < \ __\__ --- * ATP/16bit 2.31 * ....
