But here it is about a modem that works ok on a slow serial port and would work
just fine on a USB 1.0 port.
I have a 256 MB USB 2.0 pocket memory that works fine with USB 1.0, it only 
takes
a bit more time but that's not the same as with a slow modem.
If a modem works on a serial port it would certainly be enough with the speed 
on a
USB 1.0 port.
