 It dsoen't if you are using Landline Internet servoce from a Laptop. Of
course you need a goof back up battery. I use a Group 29 Deep Discharge
RV battery. But if the power is off to yuor central station it could go
down if there is a problem with the Emergency Generator. 
Now people with Cable System Phone service are out of Luck.
