My pleasure.  And the replies were helpful.

The "upgrade" went quite smoothly with only a few minor annoyances - but those 
were to be expected
..
Also got it to talk to the W9x machines on the network.  Since I don't have a 
DNS server on the local network it wouldn't see the W9x or OS/2 machines... But 
they could see the XP machine.  Installed NetBEUI and  -voila!- the whole 
network is visible.  (Of course I had previously put in the Hosts file; but 
without NetBEUI it did little to help - could ping by name, but that's it. 
Couldn't map any drives on those non-XP machines.  But that's all fixed now.

All-in-all, it works just fine.  Even DOS games work!
