I have had really poor experience with mail-in rebates. They seem to take so l-o-n-g to arrive. Plus you pay full taxes on the pre-discounted price! So.. if a product claims to cost only $50 after a $100 rebate, you still end up paying taxes on the full $150, not just the $50. That kind of taxing should not be allowed, imho. I was lucky with a Viewsonic monitor.. When I got home with it, I noticed that they packed the monitor in the WRONG BOX! (It was the last one in the store as a demo model). I could only use the UPC code from this WRONG box for the rebate. Fortunately, the product serial number was printed on the box too. After a l-o-n-g agonizing 3-month wait, the rebate came through, just the same.
