I do it here with both my wireless laptops to two different printers via one of
two Accesspoints so it shouldn't be a problem for you. Although I use XP Pro
but that shouldn't be a problem either.
It's just to share your printer on the desktop and install the 
printer-softwhare
on the laptop and set the printer as a network printer. It should be as easy as
that.
