Sorry, I meant the computer industry.  Not just the software industry.

Those are other examples of overpriced software.  The difference with them, is 
the cater to a limited group of users whereas Windows is on (99% of the 
computeres in the world.

Basically, to do anything you /need/ Windows.  That is the sad fact of life.  
Windows has made it easy to use a computer and there is no fault for that.

But with a few hundred million computers out there, it seems ludicrous that MS 
can charge so much for their OS and keep a straight face.
